Services
Guest Services at Residential Life & Housing offer other services that are available not only to residents, but also to students, staff, faculty, and other departments. These services include summer conference services, space reservations, guest services, wedding services.
Ethernet connectivity is currently available in Cougar Place, Moody Towers, and the Quadrangle.
Cable television service is available in all of the residence halls and also in various other buildings on campus. Basic and Enhanced service is always active and free to residents. Premium channels are available at an additional cost. Sign up at the Moody Towers Service Center across from the FIRM.
Telephone service is available in each resident room. There is only 1 line per room. Call waiting is active on all resident lines. Resident lines are local lines only, accessing 713, 281, and 832 area codes. Toll free 800 numbers are allowed, but long distance, collect and toll calls are not allowed. Because the telephone system used on UH is not Southwestern Bell, the SBC operator can not be reached in resident rooms (therefore no collect calls can be made or received, and caller ID is not available). Long distance calls can only be made using calling cards or 1-800 services.
Computer labs are available to all residents 24 hours a day, 7 days a week during the semester. These labs offer Windows XP workstations. Software includes word processing, spreadsheet, and internet access. Printers are available for student use. Computer rooms are conveniently located in each area.
Laundry Each complex has its own laundry facility. Laundry machines will only accept the Cougar 1Card for of payment. The cost is 75ยข per load (wash or dry). Tokens and currency are not accepted. VTS (Value Transfer Stations) are available in each complex to deposit money to your Cougar 1Card.
